I was there in the fishtank
When the power went out
Swam around in a panic
But a fish cannot shout
I grew up in the glass walls
Felt aquarium safe
But now I wish I had freedom
Of the ocean's embrace
In the sea
In the sea
In the sea
Hung around in the coral
When all the bubbles had stopped
I got flushed down the toilet
When I floated on top
On top of the water
Of the now darkened tank
My fish life has ended
I'm in the sewage and stank
In the sea
In the sea
In the sea
I could still hear the flushing
As I swirled down the hole
I Shot through the piping
And out in the cold
In the cold of the ocean
I am dead in the sea
The fish see my carcass
And they will eat me
I bought the 12 inch single for Bela Lugosi’s Dead at Fred’s records in St. John’s, Newfoundland in the eighties and it remained a treasured item in my collection until it was lost, left behind, stolen, loaned out, whatever. I accepted that that item was lost to time and likely irreplaceable. Hence my utter shock to see that I will once again hear this evocative masterwork on vinyl along with an extra three tracks. I recall Boys was included on the B-side of that long list single. Thank you! skritti
